Order Processing & Shipping Time
We strive to process all orders within 1-3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays). Shipping time displayed at checkout (e.g., 3-9 business days) refers to the estimated delivery time after your order has shipped. This time does not include processing time.

Order Tracking
After your order ships, you'll receive an email with tracking information. Please allow 48 hours for tracking details to update. If your order hasn't arrived within 10 business days of receiving the shipping confirmation, please contact us.

Shipping Rates, Destinations, and Large Orders
Shipping rates and free shipping thresholds vary by product and destination, as noted on the product pages. Orders are shipped from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to the contiguous United States and all Canadian provinces. Large orders ship via LTL on a pallet with curb-side delivery, requiring someone to be present to receive the delivery.

Order Changes
Once an order is placed, we cannot guarantee any edits or cancellations.

Shipping Damages
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours with photos of the damage. We will work with you to resolve the issue by offering replacements or partial refunds.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

Wall & Ceiling Preparation Before you begin installation, ensure that your surface is clean, solid, dry, and free from any imperfections. Always wear gloves during installation. When cutting panels to fit, consider the areas that will contain the cut portions and aim for a symmetrical application. Measuring and marking beforehand will help ensure precision. Ensure the panels align straight on the surface; if necessary, use a utility knife and straight edge to cut them to the correct length.

Environmental Conditions Modern Slats' panels are designed exclusively for indoor use. Installation should only begin in a dry room with a sealed facade, relative humidity below 70%, and an active HVAC system. Ensure the workspace is clean, free of dust, and well-ventilated, especially when using adhesives or cutting panels. Avoid inhaling dust from cut panels. Walls and ceilings should be strong enough to bear the load of the panels.

Safety Installation must comply with building codes and safety regulations. Follow the provided guidelines, and clarify any variances with the manufacturer. Installers should be experienced and use the proper tools, adhering to safety measures to prevent injuries during the installation process.

Warranty Not following the manufacturer's installation instructions may void the warranty. If there are discrepancies between plans and installations, or if there are any questions, please contact us.

Storage and Handling Store panels in a dry indoor location, keeping them on the pallet to avoid damage. Keep them out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources, and avoid extreme temperatures. Panels installed with adhesives should be acclimated to room temperature before installation.

Adhesive Installation Modern Slats recommends using heavy-duty construction adhesive. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for proper application. Dry fit the panels before applying adhesive to ensure they are straight and aligned. Trim excess material around joints, pipes, vents, or lighting.

1. Determine the starting point according to your plans.

   • Ensure the centerline of the wall or ceiling is established, and align the slats accordingly.

2. Apply the construction adhesive.

   • Use a caulking gun to apply adhesive around the inner edges of the panel, keeping it two finger-widths away from joints to avoid overflow. Apply adhesive in a zig-zag pattern across the panel.

3. Apply hand pressure to secure the panel.

   • Press the panel firmly into place, starting from the center and working outward. Fast-grab adhesives allow for some adjustment before setting.

4. Edge termination.

   • Factory edge conditions vary; field cutting may be necessary. We recommend trimming on the wood side for a neat finish.

Screw Installation Preparation is key, and screw and wall plug suitability should be assessed based on the wall's ability to withstand the load. At least 12 screws and plugs per panel are required. Use a drill to create holes and insert plugs, ensuring proper spacing.

   • Align the panels using a laser or chalk line for precision.

2. Drill and insert plugs.

   • Create holes in the wall surface and insert the necessary plugs for secure installation.

3. Direct attachment.

   • Attach the panel to the wall or ceiling, ensuring that fasteners are installed on the felt portion only. Spacing between screws should be no more than 200mm from the panel's edge.

Furring Strip Installation Preparation requires that furring be securely attached and leveled, ensuring it can support both the furring and panels.

1. Determine the starting point according to your plans.

   • Use alignment methods such as a laser or chalk line to ensure the panels are properly positioned and squared.

2. Direct attachment to furring.

   • Attach the panel to furring strips, ensuring proper spacing and alignment for secure installation.

Cutting Panels: Installation Tips Use a box cutter for PET felt and a handsaw or circular saw for MDF slats. Apply masking tape to prevent splintering during cutting.

Screw Installation: Tips Secure the panels by screwing through the felt portion between the wooden slats. For edge terminations, field cutting may be necessary, and we recommend trimming on the wood side.

Furring Preparation (Horizontal Line) Ensure furring is properly attached to support the load, relying on external professional guidance if needed.
